Easy Peasy Tuxedo Hair Bow Tutorial

Do you have a few scraps of ribbon left over from other craft projects? Well, if you have a little girl in your life then you can make these easy peasy Tuxedo Hair Bows. They are ridiculously easy and you can use up all of your scraps and have some sweet accessiories for your little one. Ready? Here we go!

tuxedo bow 1

Cut your scrap of ribbon. For 1.5 inch I like to make it 8 inches

tuxedo bow2

“Heat Treat” the ends by running the flame on the fray

tuxedo bow3

Make a loop and overlap the ends of the ribbon

tuxedo bow4

Squeeze down to the center creating 2 loops

tuxedo bow 5

Crease the center in and the edges out

(that is the secret to the bow standing up and having shape, weak creases make flat bows)

tuxedo bow 6

Use your clip to clamp the crease

tuxedo bow7

Use 24 gauge bead wire to secure your crease

tuxedo bow8

Cut a piece smaller width ribbon to make your center knot

tuxedo bow9

Loop your ribbon like an awareness ribbon

tuxedo bow10

tuck the right side under your loop

tuxedo bow11

Pull it through gently

tuxedo bow12

Pull into a knot of desired tightness

(you will need to gently turn the ribbon on each side of the knot to make a clean and flat center)

tuxedo bow13

Slide your clip in to the wire to secure it

tuxedo bow14

use a tiny dab of hot glue on the bottom of your knot and apply

tuxedo bow15

Secure the rest of the bow by using hot gluing the the rest of the knotted ribbon to the back and clipping off the excess of the ribbon neatly after glue dries

tuxedo bow16

You are all done! Use these instructions to make all different sizes and to make the sweet Minnie Bow Clip like I made for our upcoming Disney Trip!

Enjoy and show me the bows that you make!

These are so cute Steph! Thanks for the great tutorial, I need step by step instructions to do anything and the pictures make it look so attainable. I wish I had a little girl to make bows for….I’m going to have to come up with some other use for them!
