Ok, so I borrowed that title from a line from Little Bill. What can I say..the princess loves Noggin. She also loves the Zoo and due to her mama’s issues with having appropriately themed outfits for such occassions a new zoo dress is born. The fabric is from Alexander Henry and is called Giraffe Crossing. It is a another great find from Joann’s Fabrics. Last week I picked up some scrumptious birch blossom which has no intended purpose right now other than for me to fawn over. I realize that made me sound sick but if you are a fabric addict then you get it. The dress is your basic pillowcase dress with ribbon ties. Nothing fancy but aren’t those giraffes cute?
Speaking of cute, when trying to get a picture of her in this dress I had total deja vu from last year. Her little pose was identical to one she did last year. I scoured the blog to find it and I was shocked to see how much she as changed! Nothing like photographic proof (and holding a newborn earlier today) to make you realize how quickly they grow up!
I really can’t fathom sending her to school next year, somebody hold me!
It has been a fun week around here. The little princess can’t seem to catch a break recently. She gets over the pneumonia and bronchitis only to run through poison ivy at her grandparents house. It started out on Sunday and we saw a few bumps by her knee, then it was a few on her armpit then by yesterday it had covered her whole armpit, her forearm, elbow and up her thigh. Getting a 4 year old covered in calamine lotion and telling her not to scratch is not an easy feat. I am convinced that catching a greased pig would have been easier. So, showers twice a day and a few doses of steroids and doctors orders not to let her outside to sweat is even a harder challenge. So, the best solution we have come up with is to stay in the air conditioned house and try and keep her bumps covered. The armpit needs to be out and the leg needs to stay covered and it 100 degrees to mama made clothes seem to be in order.
So, I opened up my stash and started searching and found this Alexander Henry Kleo fabric and went to town on some light weight pants for her. I finished them up really fast and decided to use the scraps to applique a top for her. We used a well loved Gymboree top that had a few stains I couldn’t get out and just covered them up with some carefully placed flowers.
She helped me figure out where the flowers should go so she is convinced she made it, who am I to argue?
A little heat and bond, stabilizer and we were ready to applique. Love my satin stich and I went to town and was pleased how fast I was finished. I asked her to model for me and the result was my future America’s Next Top Model contestant!
