I had just a yard of this left and wasn’t sure what to do with it. This was my first time shirring since last summer and I was less than thrilled with my ability to sew a straight line but in the end the results are wearable and she likes it. I should also mention that a Dora popcicles make an excellent bribe if you don’t mind a sticky smile in your pictures!
The princess and I set off last weekend to go to a family reunion in Tennessee to celebrate my grandparents 50th anniversary. It really was a wonderful time. Everyone was in good spirits which may partly be due to Mom’s infamous bourbon slushies but I digress fun was had by all. Here is the happy couple after 50 wonderful years.

and after so many years you deserve some new bling bling

Here’s to many more Gram and Pop Pop!!!!!!!
The princess and I had a lovely day today. We went to the museum and she got to see dinosaurs.

and then we went outside to see this lovely waterfall at the museums botanical gardens

and we went on an insect hunt and found a bee

and then a butterfly

all on the way to the petting zoo where we fed and enjoyed petting the goats

I hope your day was as lovely as ours.

A little over a year ago I was mourning the bloom of my beloved magnolia tree and I was so pleased to go outside yesterday that despite the storms that nearly trampled on all of my freshly planted impatients I found this beautiful bloom. After our crazy weather this spring I didn’t expect it to flower this year. I hope this is the first of many wonderful surprises as our summer begins.

We have encountered some wild storms this week. Sky starts out blue then it turns a greenish black and it looks downright scary. Winds whipping, hail crashing and rain pouring down almost horizontally. We have been under a tornado warning or watch over the majority of the last 48 hours. Thankfully we were safe and the only thing that suffered was our power.

So, after many hours without power I took advantage when the sun was shining and cut and arranged a new quilt. Now that the power is actualy on I can actually sew it but thought the blog deserved a preview of the progress.

The princess had to test it out. No worries it was princess approved.
