Yesterday was an AMAZING mail day! I finally got my copy of Bend the Rules Sewing by the one and only Amy Karol aka Angry Chicken and then I got my Fall Copy of Adorn Magazine which I wasn’t expecting for a while! I didn’t get a chance to read them yesterday so I am off to crack open a ice cold Diet Coke and read in crafty bliss. Hopefully I come back with some inpiration and a completed project.

I was tagged by Southern Girl Musings and it was fun to complete! I have never really blogged about my faith and since my blog is mostly aimed at my crafty endeavors I hope this isn’t too much information. It is good to type it all out everyonce in a while. Keeps you grounded and remind you to walk the life you talk.

1). What is your favorite worship song/hymn?I really love modern worship music and hymns. My current favorite modern worship song is by Delirious and is called “My Glorious”. It never fails that I feel the Holy Spirit with me when I sing those lyrics and subscribe to the fact that God is bigger than me and I can trust that he can save me and salvage my mistakes and make something beautiful out of my life. I have two favorite hymns, Lift High the Cross (this was also the recessional song in my wedding!) and How Great Thou Art which was also my late Great Grandmothers favorite hymn.2). Favorite verse, and/or chapter in the Bible? My favorite verse and literally my mantra that I tell myself everyday is, Romans 12:12, “Be Joyful in Hope, Patient in Affliction and Faithful in Prayer” That is the process and that I take with everything in my life and it is a calming and reassurring method of how to react to life in its greatest moments as well as times when I struggle.3). What lead you to God? Let us hear your testimony!Truthfully, I do not remember a time when I was led to God. I grew up in church and grew up accepting Christ for as long as I can remember. However, after sophomore year in college I feel like I refound God, even though I never physically left the church, many of my actions were not pure of heart and of God. I prayed for forgiveness and changed a lot in my life after that. My lovely then fiancee and now husband accompanied me on that journey and both of our lives were forever changed for the better when we made that rededication together.4). How do you live day by day with the Lord?I am involved with Bible studies and daily time with my bible and prayer. I spend a lot of time reflecting after reading and seeing if God has anything to reveal to me. It is amazing how I am lead to certain verses when I pray for answers.5). Living Bible? NIV? KJV? The Message? Which is your favorite and why?I like the NIV (new international version) because that is what I grew up using but enjoy others including the message when I teach children and youth.6). What is your favorite hobby (besides blogging of course!)If anyone has read this blog before then you know it is crafts, crafts and more crafts and if eating chocolate could be considered a hobby then I would claim that as well. 7). Are you more likely to read the Old Testament or the New Testament when you read your Bible? It really depends on what I am looking for. I find a lot of answers and solace in both testaments. 8). What’s your favorite place to go on a date (with your spouse of course!)We are lucky to get out for dinner and a movie most of the time. But, we love a good round of golf with eachother. It eats my husband alive when I outdrive him! But, my short game is less than desirable so we still have a lot to teach each other.9). If you could travel to any country on earth where would you go?I have never been out of the country so I am willing to go wherever! I would love to travel through Europe someday!10). Where did you meet your spouse? We briefly met at a church youth group fundraiser and then a week later we met again on an airplane to New Orleans. We spent the week at a youth gathering and he asked me out on the plane ride home. That was 10 years ago yesterday!

Dear Hubby,

Happy Anniversary! Five years down, forever to go! Thank you for late night laughs, understanding my quirks, our beautiful daughter, never complaining about my craft messes, always willing to iron your own shirts, being a good cook, being the one who wants to snuggle, letting me pick out the movies, letting me choose my heart over a job, being my rock and my best friend. Growing older has never sounded better since knowing I have your hand to hold through it all.

Love,

Your Wifey

I think I have said “Wahoo” a million times this week! It is VBS week here and I am still alive! After a brutal weekend of last minute prep to get ready and get the stage decorations set and built we finally got started to a great response from the church and the community! I need to get a good shot of the stage because it is so much fun. I think I might have the best job ever to be able put this amazing program on for kids and watch their excitement! The theme this year is Avalanche Ranch and the whole church has been transformed to fit the theme. So, since I am a theme kind of gal, Miss Lainey had to be a part of the theme! I have had this fabric sitting around for a while and just knew that it would come in handy someday! The top used to be a onesie that I turned into a top, I love the little lettuce edge and how it turned out! So, here is my little cowgirl. Disclaimer ahead: Mommy Brag! I put Alaina in VBS this year and she is doing amazing. I just can’t believe she is even big enough to be in it and love it so much. She doesn’t want to leave and talked my ear off on the car ride home about how great her friends were. She even got on stage tonight and flexed her little muscles with her group and said “God is Strong”. Sigh, it just really made me realize I don’t have a baby anymore. That being said, she is the cutest little cowgirl I know!

I will only admit to caving on giving her one cookie. Ok, Maybe two. Who can say no to that face?

alaina-curtain.jpg

I didn’t think it could be done considering my current state of exhaustion but it appears that I have actually finished 2 projects within 24 hours! Now, if only I could get a good picture of it! Alaina loves the dress which is made out of the uber popular “euro” mermaid fabric! I first saw this fabric on ebay and then on a super cute design from Mary and I bought quite a bit of the fabric because I got an incredible deal on it at Joanns with one of my coupons so I sat inspired and intimidated on what to do. While a fun euro outift would be fun to try and create it would never get worn right now by the princess so a halter dress was in order and the rest of the fabric will sit and be created into something else someday! However, loving the dress does not mean that she loves the camera. She was actually trying to hide the dress from me! So, here is a little glimpse of the dress, not in it’s full glory but you get the idea.

quilted-laptop-bag.jpg

Ok, so if you read my blabbering yesterday it is not hard to guess that my nap turned into an early turn in for me! It felt good to finally get really good nights sleep. The inlaws picked up Alaina today and took her swimming which left me with time to craft! Woohoo! My mind scrambled on what to work on, so many unfinished projects and not enough time. I finally decided on putting some patchwork that I had started on last week. I didn’t really know what to do with it and I knew I didn’t have any more of the fabulous fabric so the project had to be done with what I had, but I am so thrilled with what I came up with! I have been dragging my laptop to and from work in a plain black bag and I needed something a little more “me” so I quilted this bag to my laptops measurements and VOILE! I am really happy with the result. I didn’t use a tutorial and sort of winged it. I would have loved to have more fabric to make it a messenger bag, maybe next time!

The fabric is Moda Summer in the City! It is so fun and colorful and I definately see more of it in my future!

I am feeling old. Gone are the days of staying up at all hours of the night crafting my little heart away. My sewing machine has sat unused since Thursday and I think it it feeling a little rejected. The truth is that I am tired. I love crafts and sewing and yet my job is kicking my butt. I love every second of working and my job but after coordinating, facilitating and coming home to plan for the next weekend for kids certainly brings back my need for naps! I think I am going to take a short nap and muster up the energy to work on some of my projects that have been begging me to finish them.

Hopefully I will be back tonight with something crafty accomplished. If not I am making my nap an early bedtime! Both of those scenarios sound heavenly!

Miss Kara has tagged me to write 8 random facts about myself. I have dreaded getting this tag only because I don’t feel like I have 8 interesting facts about me. But, I will do my best but you have to promise not to desert me after you find out how boring I truly am.

  • I am a diet coke fanatic. I have at least one Mc Donalds fountain diet coke per day. Sometimes more. I am pretty sure that there is crack in it because I am beyond addiction for it. I am not beyond fighting with the princess to get in the car with me so Mommy can go and get a fix. Diet Pepsi is a no can do for me. I am a diet coke snob.
  • We own 18 Wiggles dvds and I think I have all of the songs memorized. We also have a wiggles cd in the car. I have caught myself on more than one occassion listening and singing along only to realize that I am kidless in the car.
  • I set my alarm 2 hours before I need to be anywhere. It has never taken me 2 hours to get ready therefore I use the snooze button sometimes 10 times. It is hugely annoying to my husband with good reason but I am terrified of oversleeping if I have somewhere to be.
  • I don’t have a favorite color. I think of colors in combos. I like brown when it is combined with pink. I like purple together with green, I like yellow when it is with blue. But, I don’t like just plain colors!
  • We have been trying to have another baby for over two years unsuccessfully. It is frustrating and we are pretty much putting it all on hold now. Too much stress to dwell on it.
  • I dip my fries in my frosty (chocolate shake!) at Wendy’s. I don’t do this anywhere else. I acutally only use it to dip my fries in when my fries are gone I pitch the frosty or give it to someone else. Frostys are only a dipping sauce to me!
  • I bite my nails. I have tried my whole life to break this habit. I just can’t stop. I used to get my nails done and that kept me from picking at them but I ever since I had Alaina I never seemed to have the time to go out and now that she is older and I can get out I am too cheap to go out and spend money on getting them done. Maybe I will treat myself to a mani/pedi soon!
  • I could eat Pizza everyday. Not a desirable option for my diet but there is nothing better than a slice of hot cheese pizza and if I am getting it just for myself my favorite topping is pineapple! If you haven’t tried it, don’t knock it until you have! It is so good!

Ok, so there you have it 8 random facts about me. I am going to have to think about who I am going to tag but if you haven’t had the chance to do this for your blog consider yourself tagged!

warped-croc.jpg

What happens when one Croc accidentally gets left in the sun all day and the other sees shade? Well, one drastically shrinks! Now, don’t start hating me because I actually own a pair of crocs. These are actually cute! Who can resist pink and brown shoes? So, in my anger yesterday upon discovering my warped and shrunken little shoe I went to the crocs website to find a place to complain and I come upon this little gem on their site after you press the contact as button.

Heat: do not expose your crocs to extreme heat or intense sunlight for an extended period of time. Due to the unique nature of the croslite material, high temperatures can cause them to warp.

Ok, I am not a big complainer but this really ticks me off wouldn’t this information be helpful BEFORE your shoes warp? Where is the warning on the tag when you buy these? So, since I have had these for 2 months I am beyond the warranty, I can’t take them back and I obviously am out the money and my shoes.

So, for those of you who own crocs don’t expose them to too much sun or you may end up barefoot by the end of the day.
